Tea Olives are unnecessarily cool trees. They're old, resilient, and they smell nice. The flowers of this tree often bloom in winter and were once used to perfume teas and sweets. They're native to southeast Asia, and are often thought of as symbols of: love, romance, beauty and the rewards that can result from perseverance. They're also the designated plants of Hole 1 at The Masters Tournament, if golf is your thing. My favorite story about these trees comes from imperial China - to "pluck tea olives in the palace" was a paraphrase for passing one's exams.
